This history is written by Justus Merriam from recollections of his father Johnson Merriam's account of the Merriam family coming from Connecticut USA to Northumberland Co., Ontario Canada. Copied as it was written, spelling and genealogy mistakes and all.

AR Merriam printed this book in 1934 for family members. His grandson Paul Merriam owns the original handwritten book.

Rosemary writes: The document certainly underscores the trials and hardships of the early settlers where the only social welfare network was a neighbour with a kind & generous soul.
